Each of us suffer losses in our lives.  Members of this ministry assist others who are dealing with the loss of a loved one by providing bereavement support which may include cards, phone calls, visits and educational literature about the bereavement process. We meet regularly for discussion, support, and formation.

Individuals or couples who think they might be called to minister to others as a member of this team may contact the parish office who will  contact with the Bereavement Ministry leader.

We provide moral and spiritual support for those grieving the passing of loved ones by walking with them through their time of hardship and loss to a time of peace and consolation in and through Christ.

Our Vision:

We accomplish our mission particularly by organizing volunteers to write regular letters throughout the year to parishioners who are grieving, by organizing and facilitating an annual Grief Support Group, and by hosting an annual Memorial Vespers Service for parishioners of St. Mary, Queen of the Universe Parish.

Grief Support Group:

We continue to work with other Salina parishes to create our Grief Support Group program.  Currently, we are using a professionally created, Christian video-series called GriefShare. 

What?

This is a peer support group for those who are grieving the passing of a loved one. The group usually includes prayer, an educational video, and discussion. Members are then encouraged to share experiences and feelings as they are comfortable. All are welcome to attend (Each session is essentially standalone, so attend as you are able).

GriefShare is a 13-week program featuring grief recovery topics.  It is a non-denominational program that is open to all who have suffered a loss.  Each session will last about an hour and will involve prayer, watching a video, and small group discussion.

When?

Weekly sessions are held on Thursdays at 2:00 p.m., beginning on September 4, 2025, and ending on December 4, 2025.

Where?

Sessions will be held in Meeting Room #1 at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Parish Hall - 230 East Cloud Street in Salina, Kansas.
